General Information

The ACMG meeting is THE educational and networking destination for medical and clinical genetics professionals who are providing comprehensive diagnostic, management and counseling services for patients with, or at risk for, genetically influenced health problems; laboratory directors and technicians conducting genetic testing; researchers involved in the discovery of genetic disorders and treatments; and all healthcare and public health professionals with an interest in the rapidly evolving field of medical genetics and its integration into healthcare.

Albuquerque will provide ACMG attendees the opportunity to experience the authentic Southwest. One of the oldest cities in the U.S., Albuquerque boasts a unique multicultural heritage and history where Native American, Hispanic & Latino, Anglo and other cultural influences are a part of everyday life.  Whether it is eating at one of Albuquerque’s traditional New Mexican restaurants, shopping at one of more than 3,000 shops and galleries, enjoying world-class visual and performing arts or playing on the best golf courses in the Southwest – there will plenty to offer attendees when you are not in sessions.

Albuquerque's unique weather features make it the hot air ballooning capital of the world. Balloons dot the clear blue skies almost every morning, revealing a myriad of colors year-round. At night, you’ll notice the city is bathed in the glow of neon signs, relics of Albuquerque's place on historic Route 66.

Nowhere is the confluence of past and present more dramatic than in Albuquerque, where the modern city skyline is set against a backdrop of the ancient Sandia Mountains and spectacular weather — 310 days of sunshine!  For more information about Albuquerque – visit the Convention and Visitors Bureaus website: http://www.itsatrip.org/

Meeting Dress and Session Protocol

Appropriate dress for the meeting is business casual. A light jacket or sweater is recommended as meeting rooms may be cool. Badges will be required for entry into all sessions and events. Children and Guests are not permitted in educational sessions, and children under 12 are not allowed into the Exhibit Hall.  Cell phones and mobile devices must be turned off or to vibrate during sessions.

Weather

Albuquerque enjoys 310 days of sunshine year round. The area boosts a mild, dry climate and four distinctly beautiful seasons. Very low humidity means that even when temperatures rise, summer is always comfortable, and sunny winters are comparatively mild. The average high in March is 61° F, and average low is 33° F – with 39% humidity and a 73% chance of sunshine. Low humidity and lots of sunshine means visitors need to stay hydrated by drinking lots of water as well as using lotion and sun block for protection.
