CanPKU was created in 2008 to help provide accurate and up-to-date News, information and support to families and professionals. Our mission is to help improve the lives of people living with PKU and similar, rare, inherited metabolic disorders detectible through the modern miracle of universal newborn screening.

Our mission can be accomplished by promoting and supporting research, increasing public awareness, collaborating with professional and patient organizations, sponsoring community education and fun events, advocating for affected persons with governments and insurers, understandign the global state of research, products and standards of care, building national databases of needed information on programs and services, stimulating new products (home monitors, low-phe-foods, etc.) and working on and distributing education materials and programs.
