About the ACMG Annual Clinical Genetics Meeting Attendees
The field of Medical Genetics is a rapidly expanding medical specialty, and ACMG and its members are at the forefront of genetics research, education and practice. Genetics has become an increasingly important aspect of modern medical care and a growing demand on the emphasis of genetic research and services for patients with hereditary disorders and diseases has resulted in new approaches to treatment, novel ways to diagnose diseases and the development of drugs and therapies that treat previously untreatable diseases.
The ACMG Annual Clinical Genetics Meeting is attended by professionals in medical and clinical genetics who are providing comprehensive diagnostic, management and genetic counseling services for patients with, or at risk for, genetically influenced health problems; laboratory directors and technicians providing genetic testing; researchers involved in the discovery of genetic disorders and treatments; and all other health care and public health professionals with an interest in the rapidly evolving field of medical genetics. The meeting also draws professionals from multiple disciplines seeking ways to apply the new developments in genetics and integrate genetic concepts and tools into their practices as they screen patients for genetic disorders, ensure access to genetic counseling and testing, deliver ongoing medical and nutritional management or refer patients to specialists.
