Trainee/Resident Workshop - Educating for the Business of Genetics
Wednesday, March 22 8:00 am - 9:30 am
This session was inspired by a lively “real world” discussion at the 2015 ACMG “Trainees/Mentor Luncheon” among several trainees and one of the Co-Moderators. When asked for suggestions about career counseling, especially preparing for the transition to the first job after training, they provided the fodder for this session. The speakers and moderators have had careers in traditional academic medical genetics, community-based private hospitals, private practice, and pharma.
Some of the material may appear to overlap with the 2015 Session on Insurance and Billing, the approach is customized to this specific audience.
Thursday, March 23, 11:30 pm - 1:00 pm
Pre-registration required. Instructions will be provided when registering.
This luncheon will provide an opportunity for trainees (graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and clinical fellows) in the field of medical genetics to meet and talk informally with senior members of the College about career options, goals, and professional opportunities.
On Friday, March 24, 2017, the meeting will welcome undergraduate, graduate, genetic counseling and medical students and residents/fellows for a one day opportunity to experience the ACMG Annual Clinical Genetics Meeting and learn more about career opportunities in the exciting and expanding field of clinical genetics and genomics.
