ACMG 2020 Annual Clinical Genetics Meeting Shifts to a Digital Edition This Spring with an Anticipated Launch Date in Early May

Those of us at ACMG hope all of you, your family members, colleagues and patients are doing well during this very stressful and uncertain time. And we appreciate your patience as we worked through the complexities of restructuring our Annual Clinical Genetics Meeting.
We are now thrilled to announce that the 2020 ACMG Annual Clinical Genetics Meeting will be offered in a 100% digital format to meeting registrants, with Poster Abstracts scheduled to be available on March 25, session content to start rolling out within two weeks and then the entire program expected to be available by early May. ACMG wanted to give presenters the opportunity for their important work to reach as wide an audience as possible.
ACMG made the difficult but necessary decision on March 8 to cancel the in-person 2020 ACMG Annual Clinical Genetics Meeting, which had been scheduled for March 17-21 in San Antonio.  This decision was made in order to protect the health and well-being of attendees, exhibitors, staff, their families and the patients they serve, and as a part of the wider public health efforts to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus.  It was subsequently determined that rescheduling the ACMG meeting to August would not be feasible.
“We are working extremely hard and nearly around the clock to bring you the world-class 2020 ACMG Annual Meeting program in a user friendly format that so many genetics professionals, including the ACMG Program Committee, speakers, moderators, poster presenters and ACMG staff have worked on for nearly a year,” said ACMG President Tony R. Gregg, MD, MBA, FACMG, FACOG.
About the ACMG Annual Clinical Genetics Meeting - Digital Edition
The ACMG Annual Clinical Genetics Meeting - Digital Edition will include approximately 50 presentations in an audio sync to slide format in the ACMG Genetics Academy. The Digital Edition will have a variety of specialty tracks and a robust search function allowing attendees to completely customize their learning experience. Registrants will be able to interact with poster presenters, search by topic, author, keywords and add comments.
 Continuing Educational Credits
This activity has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™
Other credits are pending application as we prepare the sessions. While we had approval for NSGC CEUs and P.A.C.E.™ educational credits for the live meeting in San Antonio, we must reapply as we shift to a different format.
An added advantage of this forthcoming Edition is that by offering the content in the ACMG Genetics Academy, registrants will actually be able to earn more educational credits than they would have been able to at the in-person meeting, as they can virtually attend many more sessions than would have been possible at the in-person meeting.
“ACMG is grateful to all the speakers, moderators, and contributors who have already stepped up to provide their recorded talks, slides and Poster Abstracts for the forthcoming ACMG Annual Meeting – Edition,” said Max Muenke, MD, FACMG, chief executive officer of the ACMG. “The new 2020 ACMG Clinical Genetics Annual Meeting – Edition will allow you to access the groundbreaking educational sessions from wherever you are, on your mobile devices, and whenever is most convenient for you.”

The deadline for transferring your registration fees to the Digital Edition or requesting a full refund has now passed.
For those who were not already registered for the San Antonio meeting due to other commitments, we will be offering this great learning opportunity to anyone interested. Go here for detailed information about the Digital Edition.

As requested earlier, please refrain from contacting the ACMG Meetings and Education staff with general questions, as our small but experienced and dedicated team is directing their energy to organizing the meeting as quickly as possible in this uncharted situation.
Be sure to check www.acmgmeeting.net for updates as details are finalized for the Meeting in the next several weeks.
