The 2021 ACMG Annual Clinical Genetics Meeting will present both research and clinical topics that promote the science and the practice of clinical genetics and genomics. Sessions will focus on the latest discoveries of the etiology and the pathogenesis of genetic disorders, the latest developments in genetic testing and screening, the laboratory’s role in the diagnosis of genetic disorders, the treatment of genetic disorders in children and adults, the delivery of genetic services, and more.

Concurrent Scientific Sessions highlight a wide range of topics of interest to genetics practitioners, laboratorians, researchers, counselors and others with an interest in the science and art of medical genetics.

Scientific Plenary Sessions focus on one topic or area, as well as trends.

Abstract Presentations will be presented in Platform Presentations and an online Poster Gallery.

Short Courses are half day courses held prior to the official start of the meeting. These courses are focused on one particular topic and allow participants an additional opportunity to earn educational credits.

Additional Learning Opportunities

Special Interest Group (SIG) Forums are held on Tuesday afternoon and evening and developed by the various Special Interest Groups within ACMG.

Pediatric Diagnostic Dilemmas (Unknowns and Rare Knowns), held on Friday evening, this session provides attendees an opportunity to bring cases to the attention of a panel of experts and an audience of geneticists for discussion of differential diagnosis, treatment and counseling options.

Satellite Symposia are industry-sponsored, CME-certified and non-certified symposia. These sessions are not part of the official ACMG annual meeting. Program is planned solely by the sponsoring company. ACMG will provide P.A.C.E.® and NSGC CEU’s for sessions that are CME-certified. While open to all ACMG attendees, pre-registration is required. ACMG appreciates its corporate and nonprofit partners for their participation in providing satellite symposia. ACMG values its partnerships and the supportive role that members of this community play in an effort to provide healthcare professionals with quality educational programs.

Exhibit Theaters are half hour sessions held in theaters in the Exhibit Hall during exhibit hours and are presented by exhibiting companies. These sessions showcase recent developments and applications of their products, techniques, and/or services and demonstrate how the product or service is used in practical and/or clinical settings. These sessions are not approved for educational credits.

Learning Lounges are half hour sessions held in the exhibit hall and offer participants bite-sized education in a variety of formats.

Special Student Session - Careers in Medical Genetics: An Informational Session for Students
The session will provide undergraduate, graduate, genetic counseling and medical students and trainees with the opportunity to learn more about a career in the field of Medical Genetics, including its various component training pathways. The session will consist of insights into the different career pathways in Medical Genetics with presentations by a clinical academic geneticist, a clinical laboratory-based geneticist, a genetic counselor, a medical genetics resident/recent graduate, and a geneticist representing the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics. Following these speaker presentations, there will be a breakout period with refreshments and networking time to allow one-on-one discussions between the students and practicing geneticists representing different areas of genetics.
