Murals: Experience the masterful and artistic urban murals in Salt Lake City – some cleverly placed in the middle of busy intersections – others secretly tucked away in unassuming alleyways. These massive pieces of art, painted on iconic and not so iconic walls, wait ever so patiently for someone to come and admire them, to photograph them, to feel something from them. See the Sgt. Pepper's album cover,  the wall of literary greats or one of the Jazz team legends. Go here for a list of murals and locations.

Natural History Museum

To be honest, we can’t get over this spot. It’s gorgeous, hosts awesome events all the time for both kids and grownups, and the displays are interactive and engaging for literally anyone from toddlers to grandparents.

Local Hiking: Bring your hiking shoes and spend an afternoon enjoying Ensign Peak, City Creek Canyon or the Living Room hikes. All three trails are easily accessible from Downtown and provide gorgeous views of the valley from above.  If you have a little more time, head to the trails in the canyons above town … the Wasatch mountain range is a glorious place to explore. Hike
National Parks: The majestic Arches, Canyonlands, Bryce, Zion, and Capitol Reef National Parks are all just a day’s drive away from Salt Lake. Meanwhile, smaller state parks like Great Salt Lake, Coral Pink Sand Dunes, Goblin Valley, Antelope Island, and Jordanelle make for shorter getaways. One of our favorite perks — many of these parks and monuments are international dark sky parks. Bryce canyon
The Great Salt Lake: As the largest natural lake west of the Mississippi River and the largest salt water lake in the western hemisphere, the Great Salt Lake is perhaps the best-known geologic feature in the area. The city even takes its name from the lake - originally it was Great Salt Lake City, but the "Great" was dropped from the name in 1868. The lake has a rich history, interesting features, plays an important role in the ecosystem and provides abundant recreational opportunities. Great Salt Lake
