Andrea Schelhaas
Licensed Genetic Counselor,
Nemours Children's Hospital, Skeletal Dysplasia Program
Andrea is a certified genetic counselor and received her Master of Science in Genetic Counseling from Augustana University. Prior to becoming a genetic counselor, she taught adolescent special education and holds a Master of Teaching in Biology and Special Education from Fordham University. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Genetics, Cell Biology and Development from the University of Minnesota.
As a genetic counselor within the Skeletal Dysplasia Program at Nemours Children's Hospital, Andrea supports the care and management of children with various skeletal dysplasia diagnoses in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Andrea also has achondroplasia and is a lifetime member of Little People of America, a national nonprofit organization that provides support and information to individuals of short stature and their families. She is an active member of the ACMG Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee with the goal of amplifying the voices of disabled individuals within the larger genetics community.
