
Andrea Schelhaas
Nemours Children's Hospital, Perinatal and Advanced Delivery
Andrea is a certified genetic counselor and received her Master of Science in Genetic Counseling from Augustana University. Prior to becoming a genetic counselor, she taught adolescent special education and holds a Master of Teaching in Biology and Special Education from Fordham University. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Genetics, Cell Biology and Development from the University of Minnesota.
As a genetic counselor within the Perinatal and Advanced Delivery Program at Nemours Children's Hospital, Andrea supports the care and management of high-risk pregnant persons. Andrea also has achondroplasia and serves on the Medical Advisory Board of Little People of America, a national nonprofit organization that provides support and information to individuals of short stature and their families. She is an active member of the ACMG Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee with the goal of amplifying the voices of disabled individuals within the larger genetics' community.
