Daniel Reich

Clinical Variant Scientist, ARUP Laboratories
Dr. Daniel Reich is a lead clinical variant scientist at ARUP Laboratories. After undergraduate education at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, he received his PhD from the University of Utah studying the role of A-to-I RNA editing in self-nonself recognition with Dr. Brenda Bass. Following his graduate work, Dan began his current position as a CVS, focusing on classification and interpretation of sequence and copy-number variation detected in clinical germline genetic testing. In his role, Dan helped develop new procedures and practices to incorporate CNV classification guidelines into an integrative, multidisciplinary workflow for chromosomal microarray array analysis. His research interests include identifying and describing novel gene-disease associations and development of improved variant interpretation workflows for clinical genetic analysis.
