• Residency in General Internal Medicine 1-8-1997 to 31-7-2003, University of Leuven.
• Postdoc, funded by the 'FWO-Vlaanderen' from 1-10-2003 to 31-9-2006. 10-2003 to 9-2004: lab of Molecular Neurobiology (Vassilis Pachnis), National Institute of Medical Research, Mill Hill, London. From 1-10-2004 on working as a postdoc in the lab of Hepatology, University of Leuven.

Current positions - clinical
• Permanent position as a Staff Member in the Dept. of Gastroenterology-Hepatology (University Hospital Gasthuisberg, Leuven), from 1-8-2005 on, for general hepatology and transplant hepatology outpatient clinics.
• Head of the Metabolic Center (University Hospital Gasthuisberg, Leuven), from 1-8-2008 on. The metabolic team counts 4 medical staff members, 2 M.D. consultants, 2 dietitians, 3 nurses, 2 psychologists, 1 social worker, 1 physical therapist, 3 admins.
