Earnest James Paul Daniel
Clinical Biochemical Genetics Fellow,
The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
Earnest J.P Daniel is a Clinical Biochemical Genetics Fellow at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Earnest has expertise in Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation (CDG), a rare group of Inborn Errors of Metabolism (IEM) and leads clinical test development and Biomarker discovery projects.
He received his master's degree in Molecular Medicine from the University of Sheffield, UK, and a doctorate in Biochemistry from Case Western Reserve University. In his postdoctoral fellowship, he identified tissue-specific N-glycan biomarkers and developed Mass-spectrometry based fractionated plasma assay for diagnosing CDGs, monitoring disease progression, and evaluating treatment outcomes. His current work on establishing a novel Dried Blood Spot (DBS) N-glycan assay facilitates remote lab testing and paves the way for CDG NBS in the near future. He has authored multiple original research articles in Nature, PNAS, ACS, and JIMD.
