Esteban Astiazaran Symonds, M.D obtained his M.D. from Universidad de Sonora, Mexico and then completed his Internal Medicine residency at the New York Medical College, New York, New York. Dr. Symonds subsequently completed a Medical Genetics and Genomics fellowship in the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), NIH/Johns Hopkins Consortium program and a Laboratory Genetics and Genomics fellowship at NHGRI, NIH. During that time, Dr. Symonds was also part of the Clinical Genetics Branch at the National Cancer Institute and worked in research projects focused on the genetic and phenotypic variability of individuals with cancer predisposing syndromes, including familial pancreatic cancer and the Rasopathies. In August, 2022, Dr. Symonds joined Banner Health as a Clinical Geneticist and is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson, Arizona.
