Jan Higgins received her PhD in Cell and Immunobiology from the University of Edinburgh. In 2006, she transitioned from her research career to become the Managing Editor of Genetics in Medicine, an official journal of the ACMG, a position she still holds. In 2022 she helped develop and start the society's newest open access journal Genetic in Medicine Open. Through her professional work she is committed to ensuring professional standards for her journal, and for editorial office staff, are maintained and developed.
