I am a physician-investigator with a focus in rare pediatric genetic disorders. My research experience spans molecular biology to bioinformatics to clinical trials for novel therapeutics. I am the inaugural Precision Medicine Director for Valley Children's Hospital and as such have a special interest in operationalizing novel informatics and therapeutic approaches to address issues in health disparities in underserved populations such as the 1.4 million children I serve in California's Central Valley. My affiliation with Stanford's department of pediatrics allows me to apply the academic rigors and biotechnology connections of Silicon Valley with the Central Valley. Presently, my research is focused upon point of care genotyping for mitochondrial variants (MT-RNR1) associated with aminoglycoside-induced hearing loss along with the application of point-of-care genotyping to diagnose congenital cytomegalovirus infections.
