Jessica Fernandez

Pediatrics and PM&R resident physician, Jefferson/Nemours
Jessica Fernandez is currently completing a combined residency program in both Pediatrics and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Jefferson/Nemours (Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children). Jessica was born in Caracas, Venezuela and lived in Florida with her family until she moved to Wilmington, Delaware for residency training. When she was 3 years old, she was diagnosed with Spondyloepiphyseal Dysplasia. Jessica has not allowed this to stop her one bit, as her condition has allowed her to become a very determined person who encourages others to pursue their dreams. During her training, she went to the University of Tampa where she got a B.S. in Biology and went to medical school at the University of Central Florida. Her interests include health care policy, transition of care, and advocating for people with disabilities. Today she will discuss her own experiences living with a skeletal dysplasia, as well broader areas related to body image, dating, and sexual health among adolescents and women with skeletal dysplasias.
