Julie Mak

Genetic Counselor Supervisor
Julie S. Mak, MS, MSc, CGC is a clinical genetic counselor at the University of California San Francisco Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, where she has worked since 2002. Her clinical focus is in the Hereditary Cancer Clinic, a multidisciplinary clinic supporting individuals with inherited risk for breast, ovarian, and other cancers. She also serves as a clinical supervisor and on the Advisory Board for the UCSF Genetic Counseling Training Program.

Ms. Mak is a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Guidelines Committee for Genetic/ Familial/ High-Risk Genetic/Familial High-Risk Assessment: Breast, Ovarian, and Pancreatic. Her research interests include hereditary gynecologic cancers and health disparities in genetic counseling and testing.

Ms. Mak received her undergraduate degree at Stanford University with double majors in biological sciences and German studies. She then completed a master's degree in neuroscience at Stanford as a Howard Hughes Predoctoral Fellow. She earned her master's degree in genetic counseling from the University of Toronto.
