Karishma Prakash Bharwani

Karishma is a second-year genetic counseling student at the University of South Florida Genetic Counseling Program in Tampa, Florida. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Florida in 2021 in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Anthropology. She is originally from India, grew up in Jamaica and moved to Tampa in 2018 to pursue her education. She spent her gap year after graduating with her Bachelor degree working at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa as a genetic counseling assistant to a team of oncology genetic counselors. Her passion as a future genetic counselor is to cater to individuals from underrepresented backgrounds and increase access to genetic counseling services for underrepresented and underserved populations. She hopes to also have a role in increasing representation within the genetic counseling profession.
