Clinical Variant Scientist Lead, ARUP Laboratories
Dr. Cone is a Clinical Variant Scientist Lead at ARUP Laboratories. Kelsey received her Ph.D. in Human Genetics from the University of Utah in 2017. She joined ARUP Laboratories in 2018 as a Clinical Variant Scientist (CVS), analyzing clinical germline genetic tests and developing next-generation sequencing panels. Kelsey moved into a Clinical Variant Scientist Lead role in 2020, supporting a team of CVS in clinical variant interpretation, test development, and workflow improvements. She is also an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Pathology at the University of Utah, training Genetic Counselor students, medical students, and clinical fellows in Genomics. Kelsey is an advocate for public engagement in science, and has training as a Science Communication Fellow with the Natural History Museum of Utah and as a STEM Ambassador through the University of Utah and National Science Foundation.
