Lauren B. Carter, MD, FACMG completed her pediatrics residency at Wake Forest Baptist Health before training in medical genetics at Stanford University. While in her medical genetics' residency, she received the Abbott Nutrition Subspecialty Research Award from the Western Society for Pediatric Research and the Henry Christian Award from the American Federation for Medical Research.
Dr. Carter holds certifications from the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor with Wake Forest University School of Medicine and practices as a clinical geneticist at Levine Children's Hospital at Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC. She is a member of the accredited multidisciplinary cleft palate and craniofacial clinic at Atrium Health. She received the Gold Touchstone Award in 2022 for her work related to genetic testing utilization in the NICU through quality improvement. She is a member of the North Carolina Genetics and Genomics Advisory Committee as well as the ACMG Education Committee.
