Lauren Westerfield is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular & Human Genetics and the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. She received her Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Florida State University and her Masters of Science in Genetic Counseling from the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health. Her primary interests are medical ethics and the genetic etiologies of fetal anomalies, and she has co-authored multiple publications on prenatal exome sequencing. She provides direct patient care as the lead fetal center genetic counselor at Texas Children's Hospital and advances knowledge of the prenatal presentations of monogenic disorders as a study coordinator for a multi-center prenatal genome sequencing study. Lauren also serves as a clinical supervisor, thesis committee member, and lecturer for genetic counseling and MD learners at BCM/TCH.
