Margaret "Margie"Thorsen is a Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellow at Women and Infants Hospital/ Brown University. She is from Rhode Island and completed her medical school and residency education at Brown. She has a background in qualitative research and a passion for patient and provider medical education. Margie's research to date has sought to promote informed consent, especially surrounding genetic testing decision-making for patients with limited health literacy and those with limited English proficiency. In fellowship, she has worked with an interdisciplinary team to create video education surrounding prenatal aneuploidy screening and diagnosis options and is currently pilot testing this intervention in English and Spanish to assess its impact on patients' decisional conflict. Margie hopes to continue to advocate for health equity in genetics in her future career as an MFM.
