Mark Korson
Director of Education,
VMP Genetics LLC
Dr. Korson graduated the University of Toronto School of Medicine and completed a pediatric residency at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children. Following a genetics/metabolism fellowship at Boston's Children's Hospital, he directed the metabolic clinics at Children's Hospital Boston (1990-2000) and then across town at Tufts Medical Center (2000-2014). In 2017, he joined VMP Genetics as Director of its Physician Support Service, pioneering a unique consultative service that to date has provided remote metabolic assistance to clinicians at 16 (currently 12) major US academic medical centers, 9 for >2 years, 4 for >5 years. He is board-certified in Clinical Biochemical Genetics.
Dr. Korson co-founded in 2007 the SIMD's North American Metabolic Academy, the premier conference for genetics and metabolic trainees on the continent; he continues to co-direct that annual symposium. As VMP's Director of Education, he has developed innovative in-person and virtual educational programming about metabolic diseases for non-genetic clinicians and/or non-physician health professionals who work in metabolic clinics so that they can play a bigger role in patient diagnosis and management.
