Melissa Russo

Assistant Professor, Women & Infants Hospital in Providence RI
Melissa L. Russo is a triple-boarded specialist in maternal-fetal medicine (high-risk obstetrics) and clinical genetics currently working at Women and Infants Hospital, an affiliate of Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. In her role in prenatal genetics, her research is focused on development of digital chatbot to aid in decision making about prenatal genetic screening and she has also developed videos about prenatal genetic testing and privacy considerations with prenatal genetic testing for patient education. Her current work is supported by R01 NICHD-NIH grant and intramural grant from Women & Infant's hospital to build a patient-centered educational tool in English and Spanish about genetic screening and testing in pregnancy. She was on ACOGs Genetics Committee and currently serves on ACOGs Clinical Consensus Committee on Obstetrics. She teaches medical students, residents and fellows in maternal-fetal medicine, neonatology, and reproductive endocrinology about genetics during their training and has developed a curriculum for the fellowship.
