Mir Reza Bekheirnia

Dr. Reza Bekheirnia is a clinical and a clinical molecular geneticist with an interest in genetics of kidney diseases. He graduated from Tehran University of Medical Sciences and joined late Dr. Robert Schrier's laboratory at University of Colorado as a research fellow to study genetics of ADPKD and Alport syndrome, where he was also a resident in Internal Medicine. Subsequently, Dr. Bekheirnia completed his Medical Genetics and Genomics residency and Clinical Molecular Genetics and Genomics fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in 2012 and has stayed as a faculty member at the departments of Molecular and Human Genetics and Pediatrics. He practices both pediatric and adult genetics, and because of his interest in kidney genetics, started a Kidney Genetics clinic at Texas Children's Hospital in 2015. He has made contributions to the field of Kidney Genetics both in clinical and research settings. His research interests within the field include genetics of CAKUT, Alport syndrome, and precision diagnosis and management of individuals with kidney diseases.
