Robert Lewis

Laboratory Genetics and Genomics Fellow, ARUP Laboratories
Dr. Robert G. Lewis is a second-year Laboratory Genetics and Genomics Fellow at the University of Utah School of Medicine and ARUP Laboratories. Graduating with a BS in Genetics from the University of California - Irvine in 2017, he then went on to pursue his graduate studies, also at UC Irvine, where he obtained a PhD in Biomedical Sciences in 2022. During his time at UC Irvine, Dr. Lewis studied the interplay of dopamine and acetylcholine signaling induced by drugs of abuse. His research focused on understanding how these signals altered gene expression and metabolism in the reward system of mouse models, employing a multifaceted approach encompassing behavioral, transcriptomic, and metabolomic methodologies. Presently, Dr. Lewis is interested in the application of rapid whole genome sequencing in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) setting. Additionally, he is keenly interested in leveraging RNA-sequencing to unravel the mysteries of rare and undiagnosed diseases.
