Dr. Wechsler is board certified in medical genetics and pediatric cardiology. She received her medical school training at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston and completed pediatric residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Her cardiology fellowship training was at Children's Hospital, Boston/Harvard Medical School. She did her fellowship in medical genetics at the University of Michigan Health System, Ann Arbor, MI.
She has been in Academic Medicine for more than 25 years involved in clinical practice, medical education as well as clinical research. She has interest and expertise in aortopathy related to connective tissue diseases such as Marfan syndrome; heart disease related to inborn errors of metabolism; genetic syndromes that include congenital heart disease as well as the underlying genetic causes of congenital heart disease. She has been a fellowship program director in Pediatric Cardiology as well as the medical director for the Genetic Counseling training program at Emory.
