Deborah Krakow
Assistant Dean of Interdepartmental Genetics and Genomics
Doctor Deborah Krakow is a maternal fetal medicine geneticist who has a long-standing commitment to caring for individuals with genetic conditions particularly those that affect the muscular skeletal system. She is interested in the prenatal presentation of genetic disorders as well as the natural history of these disorders over the lifetime of affected individuals. She is part of the NIH study on the natural history of osteogenesis imperfecta as well as participating in clinical trials that affect individuals with skeletal disorders.
In addition to her clinical commitment, her laboratory studies the genetic basis of skeletal dysplasias. The laboratory uses cell based as well as animal models to understand the mechanisms that underlie skeletal dysplasias. She is a mentee of the late Dr. David Rimoin and Lachman and continues their commitment to the radiographic and clinical phenotype that underlies muscular skeletal disorders.
