Liability Waiver and Assumption of Risk
Traveling to and participating in group events, including the ACMG Annual Clinical Genetics Meeting, may increase the risk of exposure to communicable diseases, and attendees knowingly assume that risk. Attendees are required to release from liability and waive all claims against ACMG, its directors, officers and employees, from and against any and all damages, liability, claims, and expenses arising from the contraction or spread of any disease, including but not limited to that resulting from COVID-19, in connection with travel to or participation in any aspect of the meeting.
Duty of Care and Self-monitoring Responsibilities
Update to the ACMG Health and Safety Policy:
The American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics is committed to providing a safe environment during the 2024 Annual Clinical Genetics Meeting. Throughout the meeting, ACMG encourages attendees to practice safe measures to stop the spread of COVID-19, including testing when appropriate, taking recommended actions when symptomatic or having tested positive, and wearing a mask if you choose. Hand sanitizing stations are located throughout the convention center, and high-touch areas will be cleaned and sanitized regularly.
On March 1, 2024, the Centers for Disease Control issued new isolation guidelines for people with Covid-19. ACMG attendees and exhibitors are encouraged to follow these guidelines:
People who have Covid or have tested positive for Covid, may resume daily activities if:
- They’ve been fever-free without medication for at least 24 hours.
- Their symptoms are improving overall for at least 24 hours.
The CDC recommends that people who are recovering from Covid or other respiratory viruses take additional precautions for five days. They include wearing well-fitting masks, washing their hands, limiting close contact with others, improving ventilation in their spaces and testing as needed.
If a participant does not feel well, they should stay in their hotel room and contact the ACMG Meeting staff to inform them of their status.
