Dmitry Lyalin

Dr. Dmitry Lyalin is a board-certified clinical laboratory geneticist who earned his PhD in Genetics from Texas A&M University. Following his PhD, he joined the NCI-supported preclinical program at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH, as a postdoctoral scientist, where he evaluated new therapeutic agents against childhood solid tumors and leukemias. He then completed a three-year American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics fellowship at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO. Dr. Lyalin is board-certified in Clinical Cytogenetics and Clinical Molecular Genetics and Genomics through the ABMGG.

After completing the fellowship program, he joined the Sanford Imagenetics Initiative and helped launch the Sanford Precision screening program. After Sanford, Dmitry served as the Medical Genetics laboratory director at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

He currently holds the position of associate director of Cytogenetics and Molecular Diagnostics at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System (VCU Health). Dr. Lyalin's clinical and research interests include genetic testing for inherited and acquired conditions and the implementation of precision medicine in population health.
