Isabella Aguiar
Medical Student
Isabella Aguiar is a third-year medical student at the TCU Burnett School of Medicine with a focused interest in neurodevelopmental disorders and clinical genetics. As part of the school's longitudinal research curriculum, she is conducting a four-year research project under the mentorship of Dr. Zohra Shad at the Genetics and Genomic Clinic in Carrollton, TX. Their work aims to uncover novel insights into rare genetic syndromes to improve diagnostic processes and patient care.
Isabella earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Texas Christian University, where she gained experience in wet lab chemical research. Throughout medical school, she has also contributed to clinical research projects across several internal medicine subspecialties, including hematology/oncology and gastroenterology.
This is Isabella's second presentation at the ACMG Annual Clinical Genetics Meeting. In 2024, she presented a poster titled "Expanding the Phenotype of EIF3F-related Neurodevelopmental Disorder."Isabella plans to pursue an Internal Medicine residency after medical school, with the goal of integrating her background in genetics into clinical practice to improve the diagnosis and management of complex conditions.
