Jennifer Malin

Jennifer Malin is a physician executive with over 15 years experience designing and implementing value based care initiatives in oncology, rare disease, precision medicine and population health for large national payers and health care delivery organizations. She has extensive experience with coverage and reimbursement as well as alternative payment models for novel therapies and technology.
As Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Optum Health Solutions, she led teams that develop clinical programs to improve health outcomes and value for patients with complex conditions, including cancer and rare disease, and has clinical oversight for Optum's Centers of Excellence for transplant and rare disease and the clinical guidelines used to determine coverage. In her previous role, she was responsible for UnitedHealthcare's value-based care programs in oncology and genetics, including episode payment programs for cancer treatment. She launched utilization management programs for cancer therapies and genetic testing and developed and implemented UnitedHealthcare's strategy for coverage and reimbursement for CAR-T cell therapy.
Before joining UnitedHealth Group, she launched Anthem's Cancer Care Quality Program, the first national pay for performance program for cancer therapy pathways.
After graduating from Harvard University, Dr. Malin received her medical degree and doctorate in public health from UCLA. She is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology. A Clinical Professor of Medicine at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, she is the author of more than 100 peer-reviewed articles and is widely recognized for her research on the quality of cancer care. She has served on a number of advisory boards and national committees, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology's Quality of Care Committee, National Quality Forum's Cancer Steering Committee and the National Academy of Medicine Roundtable on Quality Care for People with Serious Illness.
