Dr. Laïla El Khattabi is an Associate Professor of Medical Genetics at Sorbonne University and Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris, France. She leads the Developmental and Reproductive Genomics Unit, which specializes in molecular and cytogenetic analyses for pre- and postnatal developmental disorders, as well as reproductive disorders.
Dr. El Khattabi has spearheaded multiple projects focused on implementing and evaluating innovative genomic techniques to enhance genetic diagnostics. Beyond her clinical responsibilities, she conducts research at the Paris Brain Institute within the "Brain Development"team. Her work employs cortical organoids and single-cell multiomics to unravel the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying neurodevelopmental disorders, validate novel causal genes, and explore therapeutic strategies.
