Education Program Director, UNC Program for Precision Medicine in Health Care
Sabrina Powell is a scientist and educator with a broad background in education, molecular biology research, and program management. She has spent her career working as a translator between scientists and non-scientists, helping researchers to communicate their work to learners of all ages. She is currently the Education Program Director for the Program for Precision Medicine in Health Care (PPMH) at UNC-Chapel Hill. In this role, she works with stakeholders to develop educational, outreach, and training materials for current and future applications of precision medicine in patient care. She also organizes a quarterly mini-symposium series focused on topics related to precision medicine. Recently, she worked with colleagues from across the UNC campus to design and implement a workshop introducing participants to working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) data. She also serves as the program director for EDGE Genomics, a NHGRI-funded 2-year summer program that provides training in research skills, career education, and mentoring to undergraduate students from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds who are interested in careers in genomics.
