William Burns, MD, is a clinical and biochemical geneticist at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH. He has a joint appointment as an assistant professor in Clinical Pediatrics at Nationwide Children's Hospital and the Wexner Medical Center at The Ohio State University. Dr. Burns received his medical degree at University of South Carolina medical school in Columbia, SC. He completed pediatric residency at Prisma Health in Columbia, SC, and served as chief resident. Following completion of pediatric residency, he completed a residency in medical genetics at Greenwood Genetic Center in Greenwood, SC, followed by medical biochemical fellowship training at Nationwide Children's Hospital. His primary clinical focuses are metabolic disease with specific interest in lysosomal storage diseases. He is actively involved in the teaching of pediatric and genetics residents as well as biochemical fellows at Nationwide Children's Hospital.
