Katrina M. Dipple, MD, PhD has always been interested in science and medicine. She has a BS in Biochemistry from Indiana University in Bloomington. During her undergraduate education she became interested in genetics and decided to go to graduate school. Dr. Dipple did a combined MD/PhD degree at Indiana University School of Medicine. Her PhD is in biochemistry and molecular biology. After finishing graduate school, she did her pediatric residency and Genetics training at UCLA. Her career at UCLA focused on combining research and clinical work. Currently she is a Professor at University of Washington, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Genetic Medicine. In addition, she is Medical Director of Genetics at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Currently, her work focuses on clinical genetics, studying rare diseases including through the NIH funded Undiagnosed Diseases Network, and helping families end their diagnostic odyssey.
